Recommended places to visit in Taichung: Audit Village, Cartoon Painted Lane, Taichung Art Museum

I went to Taichung in August 2023. Taichung is not as prosperous as Taipei, nor as simple as Tainan or as spectacular as the east. It is more literary and suitable for young people to walk around. The group tour will start on September 1st. Are you looking forward to staying here?

Audit New Village
The old staff dormitory has been transformed into a cultural and creative market. The big moon with literary style and the apartment building with unique design style are the background. It can be said that it is a gathering place for young people in Taichung. The best shooting point is the place opposite without crossing the zebra crossing.

Taichung Art Museum
It is open to the public free of charge. There are different special exhibitions in the museum regularly. The portraits at the door and the green lawns around are very beautiful. 09:00-17:00 on weekdays, until 20:00 on Saturdays, and closed on Mondays.

Taichung Literature Museum
It was originally a dormitory during the Japanese occupation period, which was preserved under emergency repairs. There are a total of six dormitory groups, which are now converted to exhibit literary works. The buildings are full of Japanese style and beautiful and quiet. In the center of the Literature Museum Park, there is an ancient banyan tree with aerial roots and about three stories high. It is spectacular to take pictures.

Anime Painted Lane
If you don't have time to go to the Rainbow Village, you can come to this collective anime memory of the 80s and 90s in downtown Taichung. The Totoro Station with seats is a place to go.

Daohe Six Arts Cultural Center
Like a quiet Kyoto deep inside, it was originally a training ground for practicing judo and kendo. Now it is an ancient and quaint learning park for experiencing the ancient six arts. The experience is TWD300.

Taichung City Hall
It has a Baroque building with a classical dome, which is very romantic. There is an Italian restaurant in the building.

Miyahara Eye Clinic
Originally an ophthalmologist hospital, it was later changed into a dessert shop by the pineapple cake factory while keeping its original appearance. Ice cream is the main attraction, with many flavors, and basically all the blind selections are delicious. Tea flavor is a local specialty. Single scoop starts at TWD100, cake cup + TWD20, sundae + TWD80 will add beautiful butterfly shortbread. There is also the Fourth Credit Union of the same owner nearby, which is also a retro dessert shop. (You can use ZFB)

lalaport
A shopping complex opened in early 2023, with two buildings, north and south, connected by Hongqiao. You can come here to have dinner and go shopping at dinner time.

Food Guide
Taichung Meatballs (a snack with meat filling wrapped in a glutinous skin and then drizzled with sauce, closed on Wednesdays) TWD45, Vermicelli Soup 35TWD, Dongdong Taro Balls, Gangbo Aiyu Plum Ice, Jiguang Xiangxiang Chicken (the main store was originally on Jiguang Street, now moved to Zhongshan Road).

Tips
If you want to take public transportation as the main method, you can apply for a "EasyCard" at the station. After charging, you can use it for major public transportation (high-speed rail, MRT, bus, etc.), and even some vending machines or small shops can be used for deductions.
Taiwan is like spring all year round, and ultraviolet rays are strong. Prepare an umbrella, sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
There are not many places where ZFB can be used here, so it is recommended to prepare more cash.
Most places are closed on Mondays, and some will be closed on Thursdays. Pay attention to time planning to avoid running out.
Many people want to eat snacks at Fengjia Night Market. In fact, it is relatively expensive to go around the night market. You can check out the old brands on the streets during the day, which are more economical.
