Hanoi's urban landscape can be relatively crowded and chaotic, with occasional incidents of theft or pickpocketing. However, Hanoi has a well-developed public security system, including vigilant residents and patrolling police. Most tourists will find that their belongings are safe in the general areas around hotels, bars and restaurants unless they engage in unsociable behavior, such as drinking in public or leaving valuables unattended.

Like all world cities, Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is generally safe for female tourists. However, this means that the right caution, paying attention to surroundings, and thus not treating personal safety lightly, must all be built-in.

Following are some suggestions to guide you towards going around active in and learning in Hanoi:

1. Dress sober: Although no strict code of fashion is prescribed, it's advisable to dress decently to not attract unwanted attention.
2. Don't walk alone at night: Stay in a well-lit area with more people, taking a taxi if really necessary.
3. Keep them by your side: Be on guard about pickpockets, especially in crowded places, and keep your valuables with you, either in an anti-theft bag or a cross-body bag.
4. Use official transport: Try and avoid unofficial taxis or moto-taxis, since they may charge you more- safer options are licensed taxis or better yet, Grab, and other local transport app options.
5. Watch your drink: Take care of your drink in a social atmosphere where people are moving about.
6. Know some basic Vietnamese: You'll easily win their hearts, and the chance for a conversation opens up.
7. Trust your instincts: If something seems wrong or makes you uncomfortable, just walk away.

Overall simple directions will perhaps make the women travelers thrice careful and fair-handy into exploring most of Hanoi and learning a lot about it.

1. Stay Alert: Be conscious of your surroundings and do not take your eyes off your belongings, especially at crowded places or tourist sites.

2. Dress Modestly: Although Hanoi is a relatively modern city, by concealing the extreme to some extent, one may not stand out and attract unwanted attention.

3. Use Reliable Transport: Use reputable taxi services or ride-hailing apps, such as Grab. Unlicensed taxis should be avoided.

4. Avoid Lonely Streets at Night: Keep along well-lit streets and populated areas padded with lively people in the darkness.
